As we depart, we embark on a scenic journey through the winding roads of the Andes, where every turn reveals dramatic mountain landscapes, sparkling rivers, and small rural communities that maintain traditions passed down for centuries. Our first stop is the impressive Pisac Archaeological Site, perched high on a mountainside overlooking the valley. This complex is celebrated for its extensive agricultural terraces that once sustained the Inca Empire, as well as its ceremonial areas, watchtowers, and intricate stonework. As you walk among the ruins, you will learn about the Inca’s advanced engineering, irrigation systems, and the spiritual significance of this site. Descending into the town of Pisac, we immerse ourselves in one of the most vibrant markets in the Andes. Here, local artisans proudly display their handmade textiles woven with alpaca and sheep wool, colorful ceramics, intricate silver jewelry, and a variety of traditional crafts. The lively atmosphere, filled with the scent of Andean herbs and the sound of Quechua being spoken, makes this market a cultural experience in itself. We continue our journey to the town of Urubamba, often referred to as the “Heart of the Sacred Valley.” Here, you will enjoy a delicious buffet lunch featuring a variety of traditional Peruvian dishes prepared with fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
