- 04:30 hrs – Pick-up from your hotel
Your day begins with an early departure from Cusco, when our guide meets you at your hotel for the scenic drive through the majestic Andes. As the city fades into the distance, the first light of dawn reveals rolling hills, deep valleys, and distant snow-capped peaks. Along the route, you will pass traditional Andean villages where life continues much as it has for centuries, offering a glimpse into the region’s rich cultural heritage. - 06:30 hrs – Breakfast in Mollepata
We arrive in the charming town of Mollepata, where a hearty Andean breakfast awaits. Fresh bread, local cheese, hot coffee, herbal teas, and warm dishes will give you the energy needed for the trek ahead. This stop also offers a chance to stretch your legs and begin acclimatizing to the higher altitude. - 07:30 hrs – Drive to Soraypampa
Our journey continues to Soraypampa, the base of the mighty Salkantay Glacier. Along the way, the road winds through breathtaking valleys framed by towering peaks, with occasional sightings of grazing llamas and alpacas. Upon arrival, you will be surrounded by some of the most dramatic landscapes in the region, where crisp mountain air and the sound of distant waterfalls set the tone for the hike. - 08:30 hrs – Start of the trek
With the glacier as a backdrop, we begin our ascent towards Humantay Lake. The well-marked trail gradually rises through rugged terrain, with stunning views of snow-capped mountains and colorful wildflowers lining the path. Your guide will share insights about the area’s flora, fauna, and the deep spiritual significance of these mountains to the local Quechua people. - 10:00 hrs – Arrival at Humantay Lake
At last, you will arrive at the breathtaking Humantay Lake, nestled at the foot of the Humantay Glacier. Its vibrant turquoise waters, fed by glacial melt, create a striking contrast against the surrounding white peaks. Here, you will have ample time to explore, take photographs, and simply sit in quiet reflection, absorbing the beauty and serenity of this sacred place. - 10:40 hrs – Optional short hike
For those seeking a more panoramic perspective, a short but steep climb leads to a higher viewpoint. From here, the lake’s vivid colors appear even more striking, and you can appreciate the vast scale of the glacier and surrounding mountains. - 11:30 hrs – Return hike
We begin our descent back to Soraypampa, enjoying the changing light and scenery along the way. This is the perfect time to take in the final views of the glacier, the sweeping valleys, and the crisp Andean air. - 13:00 hrs – Lunch in Mollepata
Back in Mollepata, a delicious buffet lunch awaits, offering a selection of Peruvian dishes prepared with fresh, local ingredients. From hearty stews to quinoa salads and fresh vegetables, it’s a satisfying reward after a morning of hiking. - 15:30 hrs – Arrival in Cusco
After lunch, we return to Cusco, with one last opportunity to admire the beautiful landscapes from the comfort of the vehicle. Upon arrival at your hotel, you will carry with you unforgettable memories of one of the most spectacular natural wonders in the Peruvian Andes.
