What you will do and explore with us
- Early Morning – Scenic Drive from Cusco to Lares
Our adventure begins with an early morning pick-up from your hotel in Cusco. We set out on a picturesque drive through the Sacred Valley and into the highlands, passing rolling hills, fertile farmlands, and traditional Andean villages. Along the way, you’ll enjoy sweeping views of snow-capped peaks and crystal-clear rivers that hint at the beauty that awaits during the trek. - Mid-Morning – Lares Hot Springs
We arrive in Lares, a charming highland town known for its rejuvenating natural hot springs. Here, you’ll have time to soak in the therapeutic mineral-rich waters, surrounded by fresh mountain air and panoramic views—a perfect way to relax your muscles before starting the hike. - Afternoon – Hike to Kiswarani Village
After lunch, we begin our gradual ascent through scenic valleys dotted with grazing llamas and alpacas. The trail leads us past the stunning Kiswarani Waterfall, a multi-tiered cascade tumbling down the mountainside, where we’ll pause to take in its beauty. By late afternoon, we reach Kiswarani Village, a small Andean community where ancient traditions still shape daily life. We set up camp for the night, surrounded by tranquil highland landscapes and star-filled skies.
- Morning – Ascent to Ipsay Pass
After an energizing breakfast at camp, we begin a steady climb towards Ipsay Pass (4,450 m / 14,599 ft), the highest point of the trek. The ascent takes us through open alpine meadows, crystal-clear streams, and rugged terrain, all framed by snow-capped peaks. Along the way, you may spot herds of llamas and alpacas grazing freely in the high pastures. As we approach the pass, the panoramic views of the Andean mountain range open up in every direction—an unforgettable reward for our efforts. - Afternoon – Descent to Patacancha Village
From the pass, we begin our descent into the fertile Patacancha Valley, a region known for its traditional Quechua-speaking weaving communities. You’ll have the opportunity to observe local artisans creating intricate textiles using techniques passed down through generations, each piece rich with cultural symbolism. We continue through charming hamlets until reaching Patacancha Village, where our campsite awaits. As night falls, the quiet rhythm of the Andes sets the perfect tone for a peaceful evening under the stars.
- Morning – Hike to Ollantaytambo
After breakfast, we leave Patacancha and follow a scenic trail that gradually descends through fertile valleys, terraced hillsides, and small Andean villages. The path offers a mix of cultural encounters and breathtaking landscapes, with chances to see locals tending their crops or guiding pack animals along ancient Inca pathways. By late morning, we arrive in Ollantaytambo, a charming town often referred to as a “living Inca city” for its well-preserved stone streets, original aqueducts, and impressive archaeological site. - Afternoon – Train to Aguas Calientes
Following a relaxing lunch in Ollantaytambo, we board the scenic train bound for Aguas Calientes, enjoying spectacular views of the Urubamba River valley and surrounding mountains through panoramic windows. Upon arrival, we settle into our comfortable hotel. The evening is free to stroll the lively streets, browse artisan shops, or dine in one of the many inviting restaurants. Rest well—tomorrow we visit Machu Picchu.
- Early Morning – Journey to Machu Picchu
We start the day with an early breakfast before boarding the first buses up the winding mountain road to Machu Picchu. Arriving in the soft morning light, we begin a comprehensive guided tour of the Inca citadel, exploring its remarkable temples, ceremonial plazas, agricultural terraces, and enigmatic stone structures. Your expert guide will share fascinating insights into the site’s history, architecture, and spiritual significance, bringing this Wonder of the World to life. - Midday – Free Time to Explore
After the tour, enjoy ample free time to wander at your own pace, capture photos from iconic viewpoints, or simply sit and absorb the incredible atmosphere. If you’ve pre-arranged permits, you may opt to hike Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain for unforgettable panoramic views. - Afternoon – Return to Cusco
In the early afternoon, we descend by bus to Aguas Calientes, where you’ll have time for lunch or a last stroll through the market.
