Itinerary
What you will do and explore with us
- 07:00 hrs – Pick-up from your hotel
Your day begins with a warm greeting from your guide, who will meet you at your hotel and escort you on a scenic drive towards the picturesque highlands of Chinchero. As the vehicle ascends through winding mountain roads, you’ll be treated to panoramic views of rolling fields, snow-capped peaks, and traditional Andean communities beginning their day’s work. Along the way, your guide will introduce you to the history and culture of the region, setting the stage for the discoveries ahead. - 07:45 hrs – Chinchero
Our first stop is the enchanting village of Chinchero, often called the “Birthplace of the Rainbow.” Here, you will explore original Inca walls that have stood for centuries, marvel at the colonial church built atop ancient foundations, and admire its beautiful frescoes. You will also visit local weaving centers, where artisans proudly demonstrate ancestral textile-making techniques, from dyeing wool with natural pigments to weaving intricate patterns filled with symbolic meaning. This is an opportunity not only to witness living tradition but also to engage directly with the people who keep it alive. - 09:00 hrs – Moray
We continue to the fascinating archaeological site of Moray, a masterpiece of Inca ingenuity. These giant concentric terraces, descending in perfect circular formations, are believed to have been an experimental agricultural laboratory where the Incas mastered crop cultivation in different microclimates. As you walk around the site, your guide will explain how these terraces may have helped the Inca Empire adapt to diverse environmental conditions, showcasing a deep understanding of both science and nature. - 10:00 hrs – Maras Salt Mines
A short drive brings us to the dazzling Maras Salt Mines, an ancient network of over 3,000 small pools carved into the mountainside. Fed by a subterranean saltwater stream, these pools glisten under the Andean sun, creating a spectacular white-and-gold mosaic. This salt-harvesting technique dates back to pre-Inca times and is still practiced by local families today. You’ll learn about the traditional methods of salt extraction and the importance of this product in Andean culture and economy. - 12:00 hrs – Ollantaytambo
Next, we arrive in the remarkable town of Ollantaytambo, one of the last remaining “living” Inca settlements. Its cobblestone streets, original aqueducts, and stone houses have been continuously inhabited since the 15th century. Here, you will climb the monumental terraces of the Ollantaytambo Fortress, where massive stone blocks stand as a testament to Inca architectural mastery. From its heights, enjoy sweeping views of the valley while your guide recounts the epic stories of resistance against Spanish conquest and the ceremonial significance of the site. - 14:00 hrs – Buffet lunch in Urubamba
We head to the lush town of Urubamba, known as the “Heart of the Sacred Valley,” to enjoy a delicious buffet lunch. The menu includes a variety of traditional Andean and international dishes prepared with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. From quinoa-based salads and creamy corn soups to succulent meats and seasonal vegetables, this is a moment to relax and savor the region’s flavors in a beautiful natural setting. - 15:30 hrs – Pisac Archaeological Site
Our final archaeological visit takes us to Pisac, perched high above the valley. This site is renowned for its extensive agricultural terraces, which follow the natural contours of the mountain, and for its ceremonial areas, including temples dedicated to the sun and other deities. As you explore, your guide will highlight the ingenuity of Inca engineering, the role of astronomy in their agriculture, and the breathtaking views that make Pisac one of the Sacred Valley’s most memorable landmarks. - 17:30 hrs – Return to Cusco
With your heart and camera full of memories, we begin our return journey to Cusco. As the landscapes fade into the golden light of sunset, you will reflect on a day rich in history, culture, and natural beauty. Upon arrival, you will be dropped off at your hotel, bringing this unforgettable exploration of the Sacred Valley to a close.
