Discover the South Valley of Cusco on a cultural journey through ancient civilizations, Inca engineering, colonial architecture, and beautiful Andean landscapes. Less visited than the famous Sacred Valley, this region offers a more peaceful and authentic experience, allowing you to explore the rich history and traditions of the Cusco region beyond the classic tourist routes.
Your journey takes you to three remarkable historical sites. First, explore Tipón, an impressive Inca archaeological complex renowned for its sophisticated hydraulic engineering, stone canals, fountains, and agricultural terraces. Continue to Pikillaqta, an important pre-Inca city built by the Wari civilization, featuring an extensive network of ancient streets, walls, and more than 700 structures.
The excursion also includes a visit to Andahuaylillas Church, a beautiful 16th-century colonial church famous for its extraordinary Baroque decoration, colorful murals, and artistic details. Often called the Sistine Chapel of the Andes, it is one of the most remarkable examples of colonial religious art in Peru.
Along the way, enjoy the scenery of the South Valley, with traditional Andean villages, fertile agricultural fields, mountain landscapes, and peaceful countryside.
The South Valley Tour from Cusco is ideal for travelers interested in history, archaeology, architecture, and local culture who want to discover lesser-known attractions around Cusco.
