The Waqrapukara Trek is an off-the-beaten-path adventure that combines natural beauty, cultural heritage, and mystery. Located at 4,300 meters (14,108 ft) in the Acomayo province of Cusco, Waqrapukara means “Horn Fortress” in Quechua, due to its twin rocky peaks shaped like horns rising dramatically above the Apurímac Canyon.

This Inca archaeological site is believed to have been both a fortress and a ceremonial center, with terraces, enclosures, and sacred spaces built into the mountain. The trek to Waqrapukara offers incredible Andean landscapes, sightings of alpacas and llamas, and the opportunity to explore a site still untouched by mass tourism. It is the perfect experience for travelers seeking authenticity, history, and adventure in one journey.
